I have been in the Customer Service industry for quite some time now. And dealing with customers or clients and providing the best service for them is something i enjoy doing. When I learned about a coming retail conference and expo, I got excited. But this is a bit something new to me as well. This is customer service in a retail industry. And when we say retail, its gonna be about shops and of course, shopping!! I’ve always wanted to have my own small business. And while I have lots of customer service and people skills at hand, I don’t have any idea on how to run or even start a business.
Shopping is more fun in the Philippines. Yes? Yes!! And this will be highlighted by Philippine Retailers Association (PRA) during its 21st National Retail Conference (NRCE) and Stores Asia Expo. What really made me interested about the retail industry nowadays is how retailers or businessmen cope up with changes and challenges of running a business. Budget, knowledge, perseverance — how and where they got those characteristics that they have in them. Digital marketing and online commerce is another that I wanna learn. Based on few books I have read, they greatly help in businesses.
On August 9 to 10, 2012 at SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, it’s going to be the coountry’s biggest retail industry event. This 2-day event with NRCE, focus will be on new revenues elevating customer experience, converges its energies with the government’s well-conceived It’s More Fun in the Philippines campaign. The event will be graced by Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez to speak on the campaign’s synergy with retail industry growth and more fun shopping experience.
The 2-day conference and exhibit is attended by over 800 retail owners, suppliers, CEOs, and top level executives. Each year, NRCE invites experts from the retail industry and other related sectors to cover relevant aspects of retailing. Chief among the bevy of topics at this year’s NRCE are strategies for driving growth and customer engagement.
The retail industry market holds immense potential as most of the countries are still not penetrated. Despite challenges, population growth, mall culture, urbanization, an increase in middle class population, and an increase in double income families are expected to drive growth to new horizons. New technologies can be implemented. Better customer service. Faster and more reliable service. Lower shipping costs, etc. These is what I would like to be with our retail industry. How about you?
The plenary sessions will provide insights on the changing demands and tastes of consumers: from retail entertainment, using store design to improve shopping experiences, successfully engaging new generation shoppers to personalized branding.
Other topics include the competitive edge of socially responsible businesses, licensing opportunities for retailers, the retailer’s role in advocating a sustainable lifestyle, and transforming employees into brand ambassadors. There will also be a plenary session on using an initial public offering (IPO) as a tool for retail business growth.
This event is supported by PLDT Alpha Enterprise, SM Department Stores, Robinsons Malls and HP Philippines, Araneta Center, Ayala Malls and Meralco, the NRCE is the country’s biggest retail industry event. The conference is attended by over 700 retail owners, suppliers, CEOs, and top level executives from all over the country. Its twin event, the Stores Asia Expo, is the country’s premier exhibition of retail suppliers and service providers.
