Last Friday, me and my friends visited Figaro‘s branch in UP Ayala – Technohub in Quezon City. It was a cold, rainy morning but that didn’t prevent us from going there. 🙂 When we arrived, there were some customers already having breakfast, some were actually having their meeting there. We were welcomed by the Staff and Manager on duty, who introduced himself to us and directed us to the table reserved for me and my friends.
We will be trying Figaro’s New All-Day Breakfast Samplers… French Toast Combo, Country Breakfast, Arroz Ala Cubana and Filipino Breakfast Sampler. We were all hungry and excited.
We were told that the breakfast samplers comes with our choice of brewed coffee, herbal tea and lemonade. We chose to have the lemonade and brewed coffee.
This didn’t look like a lemonade to us. After a few seconds of serving this to us, the Staff took ’em back because they forgot to put the actual lemon. This actually looked like a plain water or Sprite to me. It just have a few drops of lemon and that’s it.
Our food was served to us after almost an hour of waiting. 😦 All 7 plates were served to us all at once. 2 plates for each sampler except for the arroz ala cubana. We then asked the Manager on duty if he can provide us the menu in where the new breakfast is included so we can see some description of each – however, we were told that they don’t have any yet as this was just recently launched.
Surprisingly, when my friend asked one of the Staff on duty, she immediately provided it us. We were just confused on why the Manager didn’t know that they have something like this already…
Filipino Breakfast Sampler
It’s with a choice of plain steamed rice or garlic rice (supposedly). They served us with the plain steamed rice. Again, the Manager is not aware that it can be served with two choices of rice – he needed to ask his Staff. Tsk.
Anyway, includes a portion of tinapang bangus, salted eggs and fresh-chopped tomatoes, a very small cut of sweet-skinless longganisa and two small slices of beef tapa.
The longganisa was super sweet for me. I like the bangus, though. The beef tapa is a little over cooked. This whole plate could have been better if served with a garlic rice.
Arroz Ala Cubana
This one’s really good. The seasoning of the pork was just enough. The sauce was perfectly cooked which prevents on having a bitter taste. And that poached egg complimented with the overall taste. The fried banana slices is also good. I just hope they would add more fried banana slices. 🙂
Pancakes, scrambled eggs, ham and bacon topped with a slice of orange and some strawberry jam with slices of ripe mangoes on the side. The pancakes is just okay. Could have been better if honey syrup was served with it. I loved the bacon. Cooked right, not overly sweet and the crispness is just awesome. The ham however is bland and almost tasteless. Good thing, the sweetness of the mangoes and strawberry jam works with it.
French Toast Combo
Toasted bread, scrambled eggs, corned beef and sausage topped with a slice of orange and strawberry jam. The corned beef was good. Taste like those that are “branded” in the grocery stores in the metro and not just those can be bought in wet markets per kilo. The sausage, it taste like a regular longganisa.
Overall, it was good. Honestly, the experience could have been better if the menu was explained to us so we know what we were eating. We ended up guessing and asking each other about the menu. 😦 I mean, better customer service and product knowledge would be an edge.
My own ratings:
Service: 3 out of 5
Price: 4 out of 5
Place: 3 out of 5
Ambiance: 4 out of 5
Cleanliness: 4 out of 5
Taste: 3.5 out of 5
Cakes were also served to us, though this is not part of the breakfast menu. The strawberry shortcake, is delicious. However, the other three cakes, looks like and tastes like one more day and they are already expired (if you know what I mean).
